Dron Kalkanı successfully completed its first field test
The first field test took place at the Boran-8 International Sniper Competition, observed by Lieutenant General Aykut Tanrıverdi, Deputy Commander of the Gendarmerie General Command, and delegations from Hungary and Belgium.

At the Boran-8 International Sniper Competition, held by the Gendarmerie General Command in Foça, İzmir on 14–17 October 2026 with participants from 19 friendly and allied countries, the vehicle-mounted Dron Kalkanı autonomously detected a representative target flown on a drone, took aim and scored a direct hit.
Turaç General Manager Fatih Altunbaş said the system reacts faster than the previous version and engages targets with ease, adding that the foreign delegations who saw it could not compare it with anything because they knew of nothing like it.
Highlights
- Senior commanders and foreign delegations watched. Lieutenant General Tanrıverdi was briefed on the system at the stand; talks were held with the Belgian and Hungarian delegations with the aim of turning them into contracts.
- Faster reaction. The system engages targets faster than the previous version: the target is tracked from 600–800 metres and destroyed at 150 metres by the simultaneous fire of two 12-gauge shotguns.
- Timeline. The prototype will undergo new tests in November 2026; serial production is targeted for the end of the year.
- In the press. The field test was covered by Anadolu Agency, national newspapers, news sites, television channels and international outlets.
